We’re writing to inform you of upcoming changes to our lens rehousing services. Over the past two years, TK LENSES has made significant investments in upgrading our facilities and technology. This includes over 2,000 revisions in both major and minor design improvements, requiring enhancements not just in design but also in our machining capabilities. These improvements are the result of intensive ongoing R&D efforts, all aimed at enhancing our service quality.

To expedite the rehousing process, we are reducing our reliance on third-party services. By incorporating more processes in-house, we aim to significantly reduce turnaround times and gain greater control over quality assurance. This will minimize the time spent sending parts back and forth, ensuring a more efficient workflow. To achieve this, we will also need to stock a variety of raw materials and related items, and acquire new equipment to process these materials in-house. Although this requires further investment, it will aid production speed since having these materials readily available will eliminate wait times for ordering and processing them. This transition is expected to take 12 to 18 months to fully implement, but once established, it will significantly expedite our production process.

We also plan to acquire high-precision measuring equipment to enhance our quality control processes. This will ensure that the parts we manufacture are of the highest standard, fit properly, and allow us to promptly identify and address any assembly issues by tracing their root causes.

Furthermore, we plan to increase our working shifts from the current 2 shifts from Monday to Friday to a 24/7 operation. We believe that once everything is settled correctly, this expansion will reduce the lead time by half within a couple of years.

However, maintaining this level of quality and expanding our capabilities requires continuous investment. Our current pricing model, which was established over two years ago, has not kept pace with the rising costs of materials, skilled labor, and advanced equipment. In fact, we have been operating at a loss for each lens we rehouse, which is not sustainable for our business in the long term.

To continue providing you with reliable lens rehousing services and to ensure the future of our company, we are implementing changes to our pricing and lead times.

Effective July 15, 2024:

  • Price Increase: An approximate increase of 20% to 25% will be applied to all lens rehousing services for orders placed after July 14, 2024.
  • Extended Lead Time: Due to high demand and the precision required from our work, the estimated lead time for completing a set will be 14-18 months.

We understand that these changes may be inconvenient, and we apologize for any disruption this may cause. This adjustment is necessary to allow us to:

  • Attract and retain the skilled technicians who are essential to maintaining the quality of our work.
  • Invest in cutting-edge technology that improves the precision and efficiency of our processes.
  • Source high-quality materials and maintain them in stock to reduce ordering time.
  • Acquire high-precision measuring equipment to maintain rigorous quality control and ensure proper part fitment, while swiftly identifying and addressing any assembly issues.
  • Increase our working shifts from the current 2 shifts from Monday to Friday to a 24/7 operation, which we anticipate will reduce lead times significantly once fully implemented.
  • Continue researching and developing new products and services, including rehousing unusual lenses that no other service would consider.
